Fastest General Aviation Twin Piston Engined Airplane.
When I first saw an Aerostar in the real world, I was captivated. I imagine it was a bird-dog aircraft for the aerial fire-fighting company, Conair, based at CYXX Abbotsford in Canada. The aircraft looked as it always does; perched, poised, ready to launch into flight and accelerate to incredible speeds. When I read about the history of the aircraft, I was smitten (I'm a sucker for a good thriller). The history of Ted Smith and his Aerostar, as well as all the other aircraft he designed or was involved with designing is rich. Gerald built the first Aerostar for X-Plane 8 (if I recall correctly) and I simply had to have it. I really enjoyed flying it then, and I continually brought it forward through the versions of X-Plane until it was too out-of-date for the sim software. When I saw Gerald had brought the Aerostar up-to-date for X-Plane 10/11, again I simply had to have it in my X-Plane hangar. New features and additional 3d elements not previously available through X-Plane are now present in this new Aerostar model and I couldn't be happier.Sean McLeod (3 Jul 2018, 21:47)ß
