Maule M-7 235B

My favorite remains the DoubleEnder, however I bought this little plane to open an account directly with X-Hanger, and gave the 235B a try. It is a nice stable plane and I have been using it to get from point A to B and then the DoubleEnder to "sightsee". I like that, unlike the DoubleEnder, you can get the yoke out of the way, and the autopilot is much more stable than the one in the DoubleEnder. The Maule also has a very nice stable climb rate at between 90 - 100 knots. I fly at between 3000 and 5000 feet and set the engine at 2200 RPM and around 21-22" manifold pressure which will set a nice cruising speed for the plane; once the plane has settled out at your cruising altitude, lean the engine out to about 1350 degrees EGT. This should drop your gas use into the green and give you about the max speed for your engine settings . This aircraft is also easy to fly with my keyboard and trackball which is a plus seeing as how I do not have much desk space nor much of a lip to clamp a flight controller onto it. X-Hanger also has provided some fun paint schemes for it. While, in my opinion, not as much fun nor as "visible" as the DoubleEnder; you can do low altitude, 1000' AGL sightseeing and road following with this aircraft in HUD mode. I just flew this aircraft from Golden Meadow, Louisiana to Fayetteville, Arkansas and it was smooth flight with these settings. Given the price, this is a fun little bargain. When I get another windfall check from somewhere I will most likely use any spare change to buy another plane from X-Hanger, their planes have been a lot of fun for the price.Glenn Travis (26 Jul 2023, 15:43)

Terrific little plane! Flies great (both wheels and floats) A lot of fun to fly... I love the back country of BC and Alaska, and this plane is a perfect fit.
